CrinleneŽ
Best performing polypropylene monofilament for filtration fabrics.
SIDER ARC with 50 years experience on Monofilament production, has been the European company producing PP Monofilament after ZIGLER/NATTA's PP Catalyst development.
Since then SIDER ARC has constantly contribuited to market growth and technology innovation through investment in equipment and people.

SIDER ARC is a major European producer of PP Monofilament for filtration fabrics. The company has 10 extrusion lines and is the Italian market leader for Technical Textiles.
SIDER ARC manufacturing facility is located in Cornaredo, Milano and is designed to manufacture approximately 200 tons a month of Monofilaments.

CrinleneŽ properties and target markets
The properties of CRINLENEŽ (Polypropylene) Monofilament are compared with PP Monofilament in diagram. The incorporation of STA (Special Thermal Additive) in the Monofilament leads to improvements in a number of properties, e. g. mechanicals performance, thermal performance.
Potential end-uses for CRINLENEŽ Monofilament include any liquid filtration fabric, particularly where a higher resistance to temperature than is normally obtained with polypropylene is required.
One of the market areas with a high interest level in CRINLENEŽ Monofilament is the production of filter presses fabrics. CRINLENEŽ's excellent thermal performance and mechanical stability make it an ideal candidate for this application.

Monofilament Manifacture
On a standard extrusion line CRINLENEŽ is melt extruded at approximately 250°C. The initial monofilament is essentially isotropic and amorphous.
Under specific drawning conditions a highly oriented and semi-crystalline product results. In this study the Monofilament diameter used is 0,15 mm for CRINLENEŽ and other PP.

Temperature Stability
Temperature test on CRINLENEŽ and others PP Monofilaments were carried out at 100°, 120° and 140°C in stabilised oven at normal pressure.
Monofilament were removed after various times over 10 days and Tenacity and Elongation at Break determined.

Mechanical Stability
Mechanical stability tests were carried out on the same range of PP Monofilament mentioned in the previous section. Tenacity, elongation at break, were recorded at various times after exposure at 100°, 120° and 140°C (see diagram), CRINLENEŽ showed clearly advantages with respect to the above properties with only minor degradation observed after long term aging.
The improvement at 140°C, however, was not as dramatic as observed under 100°C testing.

Summary

  • SIDER ARC is currently starting-up a complete restructuring of production plant including a brand new axtrusion line.
  • SEFAR-FYLTIS in conjunction with SIDER ARC has evaluated CRINLENEŽ Monofilament for use in liquid filtration fabric with excellent result.
  • SCAPA filtration is currently using CRINLENEŽ and appreciates its performance.
  • CRINLENEŽ Monofilament out performed competitive materials (standard PP) in terms of mechanical performances after temperature aging.
  • CRINLENEŽ Monofilament is ideal for liquid filtration fabric material, extending the life time of the fabric beyond that achieved with standard PP.

SIDER ARC is:

  • strongly focused on the customers in order to meet needs and solutions.
  • committed to gearing organisation and porcess toward a sole sbjective: total quality in products and services.

This is the philosophy used as a guide during the 50 years activity of SIDER ARC, a philosophy that has made it a major player on the market of Monofilaments.
However, SIDER ARC production range include Polyamide and Polyester Monofilament, and with a wide range of diameters, from 35 to 10.000 dTex, today is probably the only alternative to Multinational Monofilament Producer.
